GCSE RESULTS DAY

Thursday 24 August 2023

As a sixth form college, we use your GCSE results to help us determine which courses will suit you the best. We know results day can feel a bit overwhelming which is why we've taken the time to answer some of the questions you might have.

How do I get my GCSE results?

You will collect them from your secondary school. All schools are different so be sure to check with your teachers what the arrangements are.

How should I prepare for results day?

Try to relax! We recommend filling your summer break with positive experiences, like exploring your hobbies or spending time with friends.

What should I do if I didn't meet my course entry requirements?

Firstly - don't panic! Even if you haven’t met your entry requirements, we still recommend you attend your enrolment interview as planned. During this interview you will discuss your GCSE results with a member of our staff and determine the courses that are best suited to you. Please rest assured that we will be able to support you - we look at all students individually and we have courses and services in place to suit students of all abilities!

What should I do if I did better than I thought I would?

Congratulations - that’s great! You may find that you now meet the entry requirements for more courses than you previously anticipated. We will discuss this with you at your enrolment interview.

Is there anything I need to do now that I've got my results?

Enjoy your summer! We look forward to seeing you at your enrolment interview - don't forget to bring your results with you.

It is also important to complete your prep-work in advance of joining us in September. This is a great way to make sure that the subjects you have chosen are a good match for you.

Can I retake my GCSEs?

Typically, students are only able to repeat core GCSEs subjects if they achieved lower than a grade 3. We offer English, Maths, and Double Science GCSE, alongside a variety of Level 2 courses.

Is it too late to change the course(s) that I applied to study at Richard Taunton?

You can change your course choices right up until your enrolment interview - simply get in touch with our Admissions team! When you start at the college, we keep in close contact with you to make sure that you are happy with your choices. If there are any issues, you will be able to discuss your options with a member of our staff.

If you have any urgent concerns about your plans to study with us, please call 02380 514776 or email admissions@richardtaunton.ac.uk.
